Don't download the update instead, copy & paste your modded assets folder into the same place where you got the assets folder, overwriting anything from the game. Then, whenever you get an update or clear the Cache, open the app, & wait until you get to the update screen. We recommend you keep backups of all your data (copy & paste the assets folder to somewhere safe) so that you can be prepared for any other updates Nintendo decides to push. Nintendo can delete that cache at their own free will, so be prepared for that.
