To make it short: NG Players is safe, while Adobe Flash itself is pretty unsecure, since it allows low level code to be executed very close to the hardware. In Firefox many games are still playable for me, but some demand usage of the flash player (a script on those pages detects your browser and stuff and demands you to use NG Player, even if it could run in firefox). NewGrounds Player is encapsulating adobe flash player and running it within itself to circumvent the killswitches of the major browsers, but it cannot prevent the killswitch from Adobe Flash itself.
